Scottish STEM Placement Programme 2024

SSERC are proud to announce the launch of the Scottish STEM Placement Programme (SSPP) 2024, funded by UKRI through STEM Learning and the STEM Ambassador Programme and building on a fantastic pilot programme in 2023.  Life and Chemical Science companies from across Scotland are hosting two-day placements for secondary teachers, with 30 spots provisionally available in Inverness, Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow.

This innovative programme aims to increase teachers' knowledge of career pathways and local industries by giving them an immersive, hands-on experience.  During their placements, teachers will be able to incorporate their learnings into lessons and build relationships with industry partners and STEM Ambassadors.

Placement providers and their STEM Ambassadors are gathered on 15th February to confirm placement details.  Applications for teachers will be open throughout March with a deadline of 8th April, with the two-day placements taking place in May or June.  Additionally, STEM Ambassadors will visit schools after the placement to work with teachers and their learners in school settings.
