For Practitioners: STEM Ambassador in Scotland week 2022

STEM Ambassador in Scotland Week 2022 is almost here! 31 January to 6 February.

We are busy preparing events and resources – we have something for practitioners of all levels during the week and everything can be accessed for free via our special events page: https://www.stemambassadors.scot/saisweek

Our first suggestion is to complete the expression of interest form – we will send out a reminder email a week before the event to all those on this list. It will highlight how to access all the resources and events and we will share some tips on how to use them. Express interest.

Have a browse of our Practitioners Handbook. This includes how the resources and events link to the Career Education Standards, Scottish Education Curriculum, Learning for Sustainability, GTCS Professional Standards and Young STEM Leader Award.

There are also examples of activities which you can copy and paste to request STEM Ambassador support in your own classroom and plenty of offers from employers, organisations and STEM Ambassadors from across Scotland – just have a browse, choose one you are interested in, then get in touch. All available in the Practitioner Handbook.

Next, sign up to one of our Careers Carnivals. These live streamed events with Q&A sessions will focus on a different STEM sector each day and are suitable for pupils across secondary and upper primary looking to find out about career options. A useful Professional Learning tool for practitioners, Careers Carnivals can be attended by staff or shared with pupils to attend as a group or individually. All the events are listed below:

· Tech & Digital, 31 Jan, 12noon-1pm

· Forestry, 1 Feb, 2-3pm

· Construction, 2 Feb, 3.30-4.30pm

· Renewable Energy, 3 Feb, 4-5pm

· Research, 4 Feb, 10.30-11.30am

Find out more about who will be presenting in the Practitioner Handbook linked above. Recordings of the events will be available on Youtube afterwards so you can access this resource at anytime.

Finally, join us on social media to celebrate and share your experiences. Have a look are our social media pack for some inspiration (COMING SOON) and use #SAISWeek. All our social media channels are below.
